Geraldine was born in Crewe, Cheshire to George and Loleta Latty, both from Jamaica in the West Indies. She is one of three daughters and also has two brothers – a close family that were initially worshipping at a Pentecostal church, moving later to a Methodist church. (Her parents have now returned as pastors of the Pentecostal church.)
After completing her A-levels, Geraldine moved to Bath to study Music, where she graduated BA Hons 3 years later. She then gained a teaching qualification and up until October 2000 was teaching at a school in Bristol for just over 12 years, where she headed up the music of an active department. (One of the 3 choirs at the school was a Soul/Gospel choir.)
She considered her role with other Christians at the school to be an important witness and in many ways ‘earthed’ what was done in her ‘life’ outside school – leading worship, workshops, etc.
Geraldine has been involved in leading worship for some time – when she was younger in the Pentecostal church her family attended and later as a student at a local church for some years. She now attends a local Baptist Church where she has been involved in leading the worship.
However, she first began to be involved in national events through the current Director of Music at London Bible College, David Peacock, and then through Spring Harvest, where she has led at both the ‘Reflective’ and ‘Celebration’ venues. She sees that God’s provision of different church experiences only served to enrich what she shares now with other churches.
